The Scream Queens Ladies Slay at PaleyFest Los Angeles!
The Paley Center for Media’s Scream Queen panel during PALEYFEST Los Angeles was held at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California. (March 12) Cast members, Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Billie Lourd, and Niecy Nash, attended alongside series producer and writer, Brad Falchuk, Check out the summary of the panel and photos of the beautiful ladies below.
- Dean Munsch takes on health care and buys a hospital. Zayday graduates early & trains under Munsch. Zayday is brilliant and wants to be a doctor.
- The Chanels will return in the next season as medical students in Dean Munsch’s hospital.
- Scream Queens season 2 will have everyone return per Brad Falchuk.
- Jamie Lee Curtis says none of the cast members knew anything about season 2 before tonight.
- Falchuk: There’s funny business going on in the Season 2 hospital. Hester will be involved with that.
- New cast members in S2: Three studly hot doctors perFalchuk. No actors announced yet. Jamie Lee Curtis is starting a campaign for the new male cast
- Falchuk says they’re just starting to write season 2 of Scream Queens. Niecy Nash’s Denise has gone into the FBI & risen thru the ranks.
- Jamie Lee Curtis: The muff will be back! Falchuk: the show will move to Los Angeles for Season 2.
- Brad Falchuk says it’s easier to shoot in Los Angeles even though he loved doing Season 1 of Scream Queens in New Orleans.
- Jamie Lee Curtis: we hoped Gov. Schwarzenegger would bring production back to LA, there’s been an exodus. We’re bringing jobs back.
- Brad Falchuk doesn’t want to talk about if the killer will be part of season 2. Wants to keep some mystery.
- Lea Michele says Keke told her she (Lea) was the season one killer. Niecy Nash thought Denise was right about Zayday.
- Jamie Lee Curtis: we didn’t know anything. That secrecy is what makes it so good. If we don’t know, you don’t know. She says Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk wouldn’t tell the cast anything. Finale script was missing final scene
- Emma Roberts says she panicked when she accidentally left her script at a coffee shop one day.
- Keke Palmer was shocked when she found out the killer liked Zayday. Says it was funny to play.”I could not believe when the Red Devil loved the chocolate swirl.” -Keke Palmer,
- Glen Powell will also return in season 2. “Chad Radwell will Chad again!” – Jamie Lee Curtis.
- Niecy Nash wanted to have more scenes with Chad and I would’ve liked to see how we got here.
- Jamie Lee Curtis is talking about when she found out about the scene where Dean Munsch has just had sex with a college student.
- A fan gives Billie Lourd earmuffs!
- Billie Lourd says she’d love to play Chanel #5 if she could play another character and Keke Palmer would play Dean Munsch.
- Niecy Nash loved the transformation of Hester. Lea Michele says Chanel is the greatest written character on TV.
- Lea Michele would play Denise because she saw Niecy Nash have so much fun & get laughs with the role.
- Emma Roberts would like to play Zayday after watching what Keke Palmer brought to the role. “I don’t think I could do it.”
- They talk about the Real Housewives who influence their roles: Nene Leakes is one.
- Jamie Lee Curtis: this show rose and fell on Emma Roberts’s shoulders. She had massive amounts of dialogue delivered at machine-gun pace. “I stand in awe of Emma Roberts’s talent. She is, without question, the center of the show.”
- The cast is a mutual admiration society. They all love each other’s performances.
- Brad Falchuk says he loves writing all the Scream Queens and won’t choose a favorite. He says all the characters are easy to write for, especially after the cast was set.
- Brad Falchuk says they were writing for Jamie Lee Curtis and what she does is often funnier than what’s written.
- Niecy Nash says she got great joy when Denise moved into the house & said crazy things. She says anytime Jamie Lee Curtis and I did a scene together, she’d hold a pin between her fingers so she wouldn’t laugh.
- Jamie Lee Curtis tells Niecy Nash: “I did that because you’re f–ing funny! Kevin Kline still won’t talk to me – I ruined really funny s–t.” Jamie Lee Curtis says she ruined a lot of funny stuff Kevin Kline did in A Fish Called Wanda by laughing during takes.
- Brad Falchuk says the Scream Queens characters have room to grow. “You have young characters. They have room to grow and evolve.” -Brad Falchuk.
- Nightmare on Elm Street, Rosemary’s Baby, The Shining, Scary Movie 2 are some of the Scream Queens fave horror films.
- Jamie Lee Curtis: “There’s nothing pleasant about being frightened. I don’t like scary films.”
- “Shooting in New Orleans was very scary. There was this energy.” Emma Roberts.
- Jamie Lee Curtis theorizes that Scream Queens may be following Halloween model – Halloween 2 was set in a hospital.
- Lea Michele: the haunted house episode was scary because the house was really old. (also, her fave horror flick is Texas Chainsaw Massacre)
- Niecy Nash doesn’t like scary movies at all. Says she checks under the bed in hotel rooms.
- Yes, there will be more references to horror movies & pop culture in Season 2 of Scream Queens. “It’s part of the fun of it. People look for it.” – Brad Falchuk.
- Niecy Nash thinks Denise can handle anything that comes at her and Keke Palmer is also up for Zayday to do anything.
- Jamie Lee Curtis on doing the shower scene: “I didn’t HAVE to do it. I’m on a show called fricking Scream Queens! It was emotional. I’m not gonna lie. They tried to match my mom’s shower scene. It was a moment.”
- Niecy Nash says the scene where she enters & sees blood on the floor made her break & laugh.
- Lea Michele’s album will come out at the end of the year. She’s writing new songs. She really wants to tour.
- Emma Roberts wants anyone from One Direction on Scream Queens and Jamie Lee Curtis wants to open season 2 with Dean Munsch in bed with The Weeknd.
- Lea Michele says the best thing about being on Scream Queens is working with a great group of friends who are so supportive of each other. “You can be strong, talented women on the same show and be supportive, not competitive.”
